Ultrasound
Ultrasound level 1
10 - 11 March and 4 - 5 August 2018
This 2-day course is designed for general practitioners, staff nurses, and other allied health professionals who would like to learn basic ultrasound techniques. The course is divided into 2 days over the one weekend. Participants may choose to attend one or both days, depending on their clinical interests. Day 1 focuses on thyroid, upper and lower abdomen scan. Participants will learn how to scan the upper and lower abdomen for the male and female patient. The emphasis will be on scanning technique and recognize normal appearance of structures in ultrasound. Day 2 introduces the practitioner to thyroid ultrasound and basic obstetric biometry measurements. Emphasis will be placed on thyroid scanning and fetal biometry. Basic physics of ultrasound, common artifacts and knobology modules complete the theory component
Our Trainers
Dr. Sue Westerway is an accredited medical sonographer who has a PhD in Medicine from the University of Sydney. With a major interest in obstetrics, her research work has included formulating the fetal biometry charts for an Australian population, which were adopted by ASUM in 2001. Other research includes fetal growth & biometry in different ethnic groups, fetal size with gestational diabetes and work on obstetric scanning protocols for best clinical practice.
Chris Lai Chiang Wei is a sonographer with experience in general and obstetrics ultrasound. He previously obtained his Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology) from Monash University and his Pg DMU (Asia) from Vision College. He has working experience as a clinical sonographer in Klinik Selva. He is currently the joint programme coordinator for the DMU (Asia) Programme in Vision College.
Chang Yee Chienggraduated as a registered nurse from Tun Tan Cheng Lock Nursing School, Assunta Hospital. She pursued her Bachelor Degree of Nursing Health Science with The University of Victoria, Melbourne and received Pg DMU (Asia) from ASUM, Australia. She has served Assunta Hospital for 10 years in the radiology department, angiography laboratory, ICU and Emergency Department. Currently, she is a clinical sonographer with experience in the field of general abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound and the joint programme coordinator for the DMU (Asia) Programme in Vision College as well as lecturing in Diploma of Nursing.
Noor Hazwani Abdullahis a practising radiographer and sonographer. She obtained a Bachelor Degree in Medical Imaging (Hons) from University Technology of MARA (UiTM). She then pursued study in Pg DMU (Asia). Before joining Vision College, she worked as an Application Specialist for Ultrasound in Gideons (M) Sdn. Bhd.
Nur Farhana Noruddin is a sonographer at Vision College. She has a Degree in Diagnostic Medical Imaging from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Pg DMU (Asia) from Vision College. She is currently a Medical Imaging lecturer and clinical tutor in Vision College.
Siti' Aisyah Binti Omar is a clinical sonographer at Vision College. She has experiences in general and obstetric ultrasound scan. She graduated from University of Science Malaysia with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Medical Radiation) and has completed her studies in Pg DMU (Asia).
Teoh Hoe Gheeis a sonographer with experience in general and obstetrics ultrasound. She has completed her Master of Science (Medical Research) from University of Science Malaysia and Pg DMU (Asia) from Vision College. She is currently a lecturer and clinical tutor in Vision College.
Woi Pui Chyi is a clinical sonographer at Vision College. She has completed her Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Pg DMU (Asia) from Vision College. Before joining Vision College, she worked as an Application Specialist for Ultrasound in Gideons (M) Sdn. Bhd.
